Recycling and recovery of plastic waste
YOUR IDEAL PARTNER FOR YOUR PLASTICS & FOR A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
In Republic of Congo, plastic waste management is one of the major urban challenges where demographic growth and the diversity of socio-economic activities are at the root of environmental degradation. Just as in other large conurbations such as Brazzaville, where waste management is inadequate, Pointe-Noire is home to piles of rubbish and gutters that have been transformed into landfill sites.
This waste not only covers and disfigures soil, sidewalks, ditches, streets, forests and beaches, but even more seriously, it is washed into rivers, which then flow into the ocean, threatening aquatic ecosystems and causing the disappearance of several marine species;
Plastic packaging is often thrown on the ground. Knowing that they have a lifespan of 100 to 400 years, this poses numerous environmental and health problems:
The accumulation of plastic waste reduces the absorption capacity of soils, making them impermeable and leading to flooding.
Plastic waste also pollutes groundwater, which in turn poisons the people who drink the water.
What's more, these wastes spread in nature progressively sterilize and impoverish the soil. The processes of mineralization, fertilization, humidification and decomposition of soil organic matter are thus hampered.
Faced with this tragic reality and with the aim of mitigating the damage associated with plastic waste, developer Henri DIELE, had the idea of setting up a unit to recycle & valorize plastic waste into pavers, bricks, tiles, and tiles etc.
This project aims to provide a sustainable response to the problem of urban waste management. This project is part of this sustainable waste management approach;
The main aim of the project is to collect plastic waste in order to recycle it and transform it into a new material.
Our ultimate goal is to improve the daily lives of the Congolese people. Our social impacts are divided into three (3) main objectives:
Our action is based on social and human values. To this end, we intend to launch an awareness-raising campaign among households, sorting and collecting plastic waste, using community relays and relying on NGOs and environmental protection associations as moral resources for the smooth running of our project;
Secondly, we're planning to set up an operation called " zero plastic ". The aim of this operation will be to target public places such as beaches, public markets, schools, hospitals, etc. for the collective collection of plastic waste on our soil. The aim of our "zero plastic" operations is to make the Congolese population aware that plastic is harmful to our environment, and that 1kg of plastic collected and recycled produces an average of 1 brick.
Finally, the economic gain option: for young people, this would represent an economic activity, generating additional income on a daily basis. For young people seeking employment, plastic waste collection would represent a real source of income. In fact, we intend to create "plastic waste collectors" to collect plastic waste on our streets or at source, 1kg of waste will be bought at the price of 100 FCFA;
